3/10/11 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 10. March 2011 19:09

I had a question from a reader about where to go to find calories for your basic, everyday foods.  I have played around on this site a little bit and it actually has meals (just like I do; except while I've been on JC) set up for a 1200 calorie diet.  http://www.freedieting.com/1200_calorie_diet.htm Now you need to ignore the advertisements that are plastered all over the site, but if you're looking for calories this is a quick reference if you click on the left side of the page labeled foods to eat.  If you're looking for low-fat recipes I love the Cooking Light Magazine, Hungry Girl Cookbook, The Volumetrics Eating Plan, and American Heart Association Cookbook.  Of course my absolute favorite way to stick to 1200 calories is Jenny Craig.  They teach you gradually about portion control, volumetrics, sodium, sugar, exercise and because it's slow and deliberate it's a lifestyle change that will hopefully last forever.  But, like I've said in previous blogs, JC is definitely expensive.  If you don't have the money then I suggest referring back to my blogs before 1/11.  In January of 2011 is when I got pregnant and then my diet changed.  Once I get this baby weight off (hopefully by summer!) I will be back to eating 1200 calories of my choice with foods from the grocery store.  My maintenance diet works too (and it would work for you as a diet plan; it did for my Mom and my aunt) I just needed JC to help "shock" my system after I had the baby with a STRICT diet of 1200 calories, low sodium, low sugar.

Good news is....drum roll please....I am back into the first pair of pants I bought when I started to get bigger from being pregnant:  SIZE 4 (I know that sounds little but it's a pair of Old Navy pants and they must run larger because I think I'm a size 6 which is still great considering I had a baby almost 5 months ago!).

Good luck to all of you on your healthy eating diets!  Please feel free to ask me any questions about what I've learned in the past 3 years from Jenny Craig.  They have completely changed the way I think about eating and living...and probably how I will feed my own children.
