Due to my age, family history of cancer and the extreme stresses I’ve experienced in the last 3-4 years, I’ve had a greater concern about breast cancer.
An article I read recently in the October issue of Prevention Magazine brought to the for-front, the importance of exercise during breast cancer treatment.
According to Holly St. Lifer, “Exercise can halve your risk of breast cancer recurrence, according to the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study, and women who exercise are 50% more likely to survive breast cancer than those who don’t work out.” Why? Because exercise reduces inflammation, stress, and helps moderate your weight. It changes your body chemistry, creating an environment where cancer doesn’t like to multiply.
Exercise has also been found to boost energy in chemo patients. Just listen to your body and respect the pace it wants to be at.
